My heart took a step back the other night when I sat down and saw this silver tag at my seat with the name “Mariah Teller” etched onto it. I also noticed a birth and sadly, a death date, which meant this child had passed away at just 3 1/2 years old.
I was at the BYBC2015 Bloggers Conference in Salt Lake City, which was incredible btw–but I had no idea what these tags were all about.
And then I learned…
But before I share, you know that aching feeling of seeing someone suffering and not knowing what to do, what to say, and just wanting to somehow take their pain away? The awkwardness, the urge to help that goes unsatisfied? After I learned the things I learned, those very feelings came creeping over me. But if that starts to happen to you as you continue reading, just know that something awesome, amazing, and so very simple can help take those feelings away. And I’m about to share those with you too. With that, here is what I learned…
A speaker named Jesse from the Tyler Robinson Foundation spoke about losing his brother Tyler to childhood cancer. The story was crushing.
He told us that Tyler had died on March 4th and that was why Jesse was reaching out to us. They had organized the March Fo(u)rth for 1 Million Voices of Hope for Pediatric Cancer Families. How cool is that? My eyes stung with tears and I couldn’t believe the “coincidence” of the timing of his death.
I’ve had children in my makeup chairs over the years that were dying of cancer. In every case, I’ve been deeply moved by their strength and demeanor. I have to believe that those special little spirits are truly brought into this world to bless the hearts of everyone they touch. They are incredible, they teach us how to love, how to embrace every second, how to become strong, and what really matters in life.
I knew I had to share this story with you, and went to work on it right away.
Of course, my curiosity got the best of me. So, I googled Mariah’s name. I think I stopped breathing as the most beautiful pictures filled my screen. Then I found a “Prayers for Mariah” facebook page, which took me down another journey.
Something about Mariah drew me in. She came, lived her little life, and moved on. But as a total stranger, I was still powerfully moved by her legacy. A life well lived can truly change us.
I found this article about Mariah and her family. They’ve been through so much.
I reached out to Her mom Terra, and here are her words:
“she was the most incredible toddler, always happy no matter what she was going through, always worried about others. People were so drawn to her and she brought people together. She never felt sorry for herself, and even against unwinnable odds, woke up with a smile on her face. A triumphant spirit every day. She is my hero, she gives me strength.”
Here is another note Terra wrote on Mariah’s page,
“To heaven, Heavenly father please take good care of Mariah today we miss her so bad it hurts we wish there was visiting hours but then I think we would stay ..Please cuddle her for us squeeze her sing with her and play play do her cousins are really missing her too please hug her for them and give them the strength to endure today . Please tickle her for Marcus she was his favorite buddy to watch football with . Tell her I miss having her next to me cooking and just by my side where ever I went I love her so so much, please help me be strong, please hug and rub noses with her for daddy tell her he misses her mugga muggas and snuggles .she loves mashed potatoes and turkey but no cranberry sauce she will eat very little to move on to the pie. Please let her watch bubble guppies the turkey episode and sing the songs with her . We are so grateful with the time we had with her we love you sweet little Mariah you and your brother are my everything happy turkey day sweet heart . Sending my love to heaven”
The tears just keep rolling. I can’t even imagine what these kids and their families have gone through. But back to those aching feelings of wanting to somehow reach out and help…
We can do something–we can join in and March Fourth on March 4th this week…to help child cancer patients and their families.
And they’ve made it easy for us too–just pick what works for you! (The day they’ve picked is March 4th, but if you’re reading this after that date, you can still march fourth and help in any way listed below…
1. SHARE this post everywhere you can, share it today & tomorrow –we will too! Use this hashtag: #myTRFvoice
2. If you can, donate just $4 on their website
3. Leave a message of hope for kids suffering from cancer HERE
4. Attend a March Fo(u)rth event in your area if there is one) All worldwide events are listed their website
That’s it! We really can’t take away all of the pain these families endure. But we can help, and we can make a difference. I’m excited for this opportunity, it truly can touch hearts. Let us know your experiences–we believe they will be wonderful.
A little aside–I was in the middle of working on this post today when I had to run to a meeting. As I was driving, a car was in the wrong lane and swerved over. The guy behind them slammed on his horn. My first thought was, does he even know what they might be going through?
Maybe they are, maybe they aren’t, but just maybe we can stop in our moments of rage, and breathe…see other people as real, and reach out to make their lives just a little bit better. And just maybe, we will be surprised to see our lives become better as well.
And I don’t know why I’m feeling compelled to share this link… Recovery From Grief But if you know anyone suffering from grief, recovery is essential and better yet, it’s attainable, and can ultimately empower us. Here is a wonderful book that can help make that process easier for anyone that you love.
That’s it! Thanks for being so amazing and we hope we get to see some of you at our local venues as we MARCH Fourth for so many kids and their families.
Please share your thoughts–somebody may need to hear them!

Years ago, I remember reading a book that talked about the beauty traditions throughout the world. It was fascinating, I can’t remember the name of the book, but I liked learning how the Sweedish or the English or the Scottish beauty secrets evolved.
Fast forward to today, when we are sharing our secrets with the world everyday online. I kind of really love that about the internet. We’ve made so many wonderful friends with common interests that we never could have known in any other era. Anyway, where am I going, lol. Sorry about that : /
“beauty is not flawless, it shines, even through your flaws”
I guess those thoughts were sparked because in a weird way, it feels like we’ve searched the world over in our efforts to find the best safe, organic, and natural makeup around. Whew, not really, but we have literally bought makeup in many countries, in our hopes of finding the most luxurious makeup options we could.
It’s been kind of a learning curve, remember back in the day when “healthy food” was worse than the cardboard box it was packaged in? That’s how our journey has felt as we’ve gone through $1000’s of “natural” products, trying to find the very best, so we could use them on set, and then share what we’d found and loved with you.
We started our quest to share with the world on youtube, by making quick little 1 minute videos, talking about all of the “toxic” ingredients we had huge concerns over, based on all of the studies we had read.
So today, we continued to test, try, review, and rate anything that meets our very high standards but that also performs like a dream.
That brings us to our list:
2015 Top Natural Flawless Makeup FAVES Collection that we really love and trust. We get so many requests for this info, so we’re excited to share it with you! It’s in a cart, don’t let that scare you–that’s the best way we could figure out how to set it up so you could have immediate access to any products you may want to snag yourself.
Here is our 2015 TOP natural Eye Makeup FAVES Collection
The products we are sharing are from our current top few lines that we’ve been using ourselves, and especially in our professional makeup & hair kits.

No GLUTEN, no grain, no soy, no chemicals, no dairy, NO
trans fat, and NO GUILT!! oops AND Delicious!
Ok, so it’s not really fried, but will definitely give Fried Chicken a run for its money–hmmm, maybe not the best cliche, lol, sorry about that. It’s never been one of my strong points. But that said, this faux fried chicken is super simple, delicious, and cuts out all the grease, grime, gluten, grain, and will definitely make you the star of the show (well, table anyway
So get those Southern cravings ready because this recipe will quench them and make you wonder what took you so long. Do I say that every time I post a recipe, sheesh. But the truth is, this is really delicious and I think you’ll absolutely love it and I hope it rocks your world! No need to crave fried chicken any more, yay.
And about the chicken, Tiffany and I ate a Raw Diet for 1 1/2 years and loved it. We did miss some of that savory home cooking, so we adjusted it back to a High Raw & Mediterranean Blend. So yes, we do eat chicken and wild salmon. When it comes to chicken though, there are some things to know.
Our concern has always been more about eliminating toxins and embracing as many nutrients as we possibly can, so we only eat organic chicken. And we know what it eats, because I have a son who raises chickens with a friend on the side. Most of the chicken feed available now days is genetically modified corn or soy, so chicken can be sold as “natural” even if it has had that type of diet. As far as we’ve been able to find, in the States, I believe it must be truly organic through and through if it is USDA Certified. But I could be wrong…because I still don’t know if that means they raise it on non-gmo grains exclusively, do you know? I’d really love to find that answer if anyone knows it, so we can let everyone in on what it really means.
A little off topic, but you know what’s so weird to me? The chickens Trent raises for us get BIG. And they don’t use any hormones or antibiotics at all. So WHY do you think they use them?? I know what I think, but I’d love to hear your thoughts and feedback on it!
When you buy a “natural” chicken, it may say it has “no hormones or antibiotics added” umm, does that make you even just a little bit mad? Of course they haven’t “added” any hormones or antibiotics to that dead chicken. Sadly that is all that it means.
So needless to say, we eat meat sparingly, so when we do eat it, we want it to be good. And this is a great recipe that we want you to love, because it is so much better for you than the alternative.
Ok, let’s COOK!!
FRIED CHICKEN GONE HEALTHY
Yes, one last thought before we begin, I highly recommend using certified organic ingredients whenever you can, so I’ve searched high and low for the best deals on each of the following certified organic ingredients that we love to use…k, enough abuse, here ya go:
- 2 eggs (optional – read why below)
- 1 full chicken cut into pieces
- 1 cup almond flour
- 1 cup certified organic coconut flour
- 1 tablespoon certified organic italian seasoning
- 1 1/2 teaspoons certified organic sea salt
- 1 teaspoon certified organic turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon certified organic fresh peppercorns
- 1/2 teaspoon certified organic garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon certified organic chipotle pepper
I’ve actually found that if I wash the chicken, then cover it and stick it in the fridge for several hours or even overnight, it becomes tacky enough that I don’t need any eggs in this recipe. The flour mix will stick perfectly and it’s not near as messy, but if you prefer the mess, be my guest (actually that would be LOTS of FUN!)
1. Preheat oven to 450 F. or 230 C.
2. Prep the chicken as described above. If you’d rather use eggs, then skip this step.
3. Place all of the flour mixture ingredients together in a bag and shake together.
4. If you didn’t prep the chicken in the fridge, just place 2 eggs in a bowl and dip each piece in the egg mixture) otherwise ignore this step. Sheesh, have I confused you? I am so sorry–it sounds a little complicated, but it really isn’t. I promise!
5. Coat a cookie sheet lightly with avocado oil.
6. Drop Chicken, one piece at a time, into the bag. Shake and coat well.
7. Place chicken on greased cookie sheet and bake for just 20 minutes for the juiciest most delicious chicken ever!
Dig in (before everyone else does!)
Here’s to your health, which is what makes life a beautiful thing!
Please comment below and let us know how it works for you, how it tastes, and any tricks you come up with as well. We love to hear! (Let us know if it won’t let you comment for some reason, it’s been acting very weird lately)
We sure love you guys!!

Okay, yeah, it is a little bit awkward to discuss this topic on a public forum, but it’s actually a great question that we’ve been asked about a lot, people wanting to know if any safe, natural condoms exist. We love that you care about what’s going on or in your body in any way whatsoever, so we’re happy to tackle this issue.
The truth is, this is a tricky subject, because there is really a tradeoff that you need to consider with condoms. Regular condoms are chemically produced, which we dont feel is safe and believe could be potentially very hazardous.
So the other natural alternative is natural membrane condoms. We feel they are a much safer alternative, and can be very effective, but if you’re concerned about animal rights, it could be an alternative you’re not going to feel good about. In that case we would recommend doing extensive research to find other safe and natural alternatives.
But if anyone has any feedback or advice on this, please feel free to share. In the mean time, here are some natural condoms that appear to be very safe and come highly recommended…
Hopefully this topic has made you stop and think about the safety of products we commonly use. If so, here is another post you may be interested in as well:
ARE TAMPONS SAFE?
We actually love the fact that we are finding better options for just about everything in our lives, and this subject is no exception. We also love your interest and desire to stay safe and to do all that you can to preserve your health.
You guys are the best,
please COMMENT and share your insights, ?’s and wisdom!

“A man travels the world
in search of what he needs,
and returns HOME
to find it.”
What IS Love?
In my work, I travel often to all kinds of different places, cultures, scenery, and people I don’t yet know. I love it, but as I get home to my own home and sink my head into my own pillow in my own bed, and find myself surrounded by my family, I realize what truly matters most.
Studies show that family relationships can bring joy and meaning to life. If that makes you twitch, don’t worry, we’re all a work in progress, but when we learn to see those relationships as opportunities for growth, increased love, and potential joy, our lives begin to change.
A friend shared her struggles about their family relationships with me recently. I actually don’t think a family exists that doesn’t have a mix of healthy and unhealthy behaviors brewing…but how we deal with those can either make or break us.
When we start to see everyone in our close circles and real and meaningful, and understand their limitations, their pains, their joys, and what they are about, our hearts begin to shift.
When a person is immersed in destructive behavior, it tends to have roots. And when their behavior effects us negatively, we ultimately have to realize that we can’t change them, but we must change the way we react to them. My dad (a retired Phsychologist) said that over and over again.
No family is perfect, but ironically much of the growth we go through in life comes about because of our family relationships. So whether it’s healthy or not isn’t the question, it’s how we allow those primary relationships to direct our paths.
I think that seeing each family member where they are, understanding that they are doing the best they know how to do with the tools they’ve been given, we can start to let go of our own unhealthy expectations. They are where they are for a reason, and typically can’t see why things aren’t working for them.
But once we let go of our expectations of them, our hearts begin to change.
We can see them where they are and love them there…that is the beginning of uncondtional true love.
And when we learn to love unconditionally, we grow in leaps and bounds and that’s when we become healthy…inside and out. What we think, feel, and conquer truly makes us who we are.
With those thoughts in mind, how long has it been since we shared our feelings of love with those who should matter the most to us? Maybe it’s time….After all, it’s worth it
To your health, love, & happiness–inside & out!

I think you’re going to love this–it’s Paleo pizza on the go! Super fast 3 minute pizza. Easy and delicious!
Today was my first real day off in a few weeks. Tiffany and I have been working on a film called “War Pigs” so today was a day to celebrate. So when I headed off to the post office to drop off some packages today, I had one of those crazy unhealthy temptations come tugging at my appetite strings, if that’s such a thing.
And wouldn’t you know, it was pizza. I wanted to just pull into one of those ready made pizza joints and grab a piece or two of pizza. But even though the temptation was there, I really didn’t want to do that deep inside. But I think it was the quick and easy way out that got to me even more than the pizza itself.
I thought about what I had in my fridge and thought just maybe I could create something just as quick and equally tasty without all of the chemicals and “ick” at all.
And I’m happy to say that I did it! I threw together the simplest pizza in minutes, and it was really yummy.
Here’s how to make a quick PALEO PIZZA
1 slice grain free bread (our favorite is our Italian Herb bread which isn’t quite 3 minutes to cook, but when you have a few more minutes is super easy to make!)
Sprinkle of shredded Almond or Rice Milk Cheese
Several thin slices of free range nitrate-free pepperoni
Brewers Yeast – gives a cheesy flavor and a great natural source of vitamin B12
- Place a slice of grain free bread of any kind (we linked to our favorite ever) in the toaster and pop up half way through.
- Next spread on the salsa, sprinkle on some cheese, pepperoni and herbs.
- Place on the top of the toaster and turn it back on. Allow to crisp up the bottom and warm until ready. I took mine off before the toaster popped again as it was ready sooner.
So this literally takes about 3 minutes from start to finish and you can feel good knowing that you haven’t filled your body with yuck. Yep, awesome.
Let us know how you like it and what else you’d like to have us share!
