Natural DIY Furniture Polish

Have you ever taken a whiff of regular furniture polish?  If not, it’s definitely something we don’t recommend!  The fumes alone are enough of a reason to stay away from most standard brands of furniture polish, but how about replacing it with something that smells great, works beautifully on  furniture, and saves a lot of money at the same time? AND it only takes about 2 minutes to make.  Hmmm, pretty impressive, huh?  Here goes… 🙂

Delicious Detox Salad & Dressing

Detox Salad & Smoothie

PIN ME!

Detox Salad & Dressing

I think detoxing sounds like the most disgusting thing ever. It sounds stinky and bitter and bland. At least that’s what I used to think. But this Detox salad & dressing will defy the disgusting image you may have in your mind (like I used to have.)  It is actually delicious, satisfying, and really makes you feel better and better with each bite. It’s awesome!

The funny thing is this post wasn’t planned (at least by us anyway!) It was just another lunch, but with detox in mind. And if you read our posts “My Healthy Diet Backwards,” you’ll know why. 🙂 But when I posted it through Instagram, the messages and comments poured in, asking us to post the recipe. So you can thank our cute friends everywhere for this recipe.

True friends are

the people in our lives

that make us

laugh louder, smile brighter,

& live better!

The salad is just nothing but nutrients and rich in omega 3 fatty acids, which are essential for safe detoxification. The omega 3’s are found in 3 items in this salad–the wild salmon, the walnuts, and  the extra virgin olive oil in the dressing.

For those of you who look at the ingredients and see, “nutritional yeast,” don’t be alarmed. You’ll stop scrunching up your nose when you learn how nutritional those flakes are, power loaded with B vitamins, in fact they happen to provide the only plant source of vitamin B12, which we never want to become insufficient in.  We love them! Nutritional yeast flakes have a bit of a cheesy taste and are also great to sprinkle over all kinds of salads and vegetables just as they are.

Another thing to keep in mind, is the cilantro is added because it is one of the best vegetables for detoxifying. It has been shown to actually help the body release toxic chemicals and heavy metals.  For that reason, I go out of my way to always make sure that I’m buying organic cilantro…can you imagine the chemicals something like that could contain if it’s not organic???

Lol, I think I may need your help!  I made this detox salad & dressing up, but can’t quite think of a name for it. It’s soo delicious, is a bit tangy, zesty…and very yellow. For those of you who try it, please help me give it a name!  That would be awesome 🙂

Raw Hot Fudge – without heat!

Raw Hot Fudge Recipe, without heat and gluten free, sugar free, dairy free, and soy free!PIN IT

Raw Hot Fudge (without the heat 🙂

Raw Hot Fudge Recipe, without heat and gluten free, sugar free, dairy free, and soy free!

Ready for the most amazing chocolate fudge syrup? Yes, it’s gluten-free, sugar-free, dairy-free, and soy free, and sooooo yummy! It’s our own version that we cooked up, almost by accident and we’ve been celebrating ever since, lol.

You know how things sometimes happen for a reason?  Well, this is one of those “things”…alleluia!  My sister was staying with us on a visit and she started asking what she should use to improve her skin.  That’s like asking a pack of wolves if they’d like to eat you, haha, so of course, I marched her down to my kitchen and started whipping up some nutrients in a dish.  I loaded it with antioxidants and omega 3 fatty acids and moisture.  I slapped it on my face and had her do the same.  But before I knew it, she was licking her bowl clean…. ummm, excuse me?! 🙂

It’s a little hard to take someone seriously with chocolate slopped all over her face, but…as I thought about it, I realized she was onto something, hmm.  I knew it should taste pretty yummy with the ingredients it contained, so I licked my own lips and as far around my lips as my tongue could reach…and yes, you guessed it, before long I had licked my own bowl clean.

Gratitude opens the door

to all of the wisdom,

the power, and the happiness

you were meant to enjoy!

It really tasted great and I could see that it had some real potential.  I thought about how to thicken it and mixed up a few versions before, viola! This recipe came together. And it’s delicious on any of our baked goodies or on good old fashioned cut up apples, bananas, strawberries….ummm get the idea?

Raw Hot Fudge Recipe

  • 1/4 cup raw cacao powder
  • 2 Tablespoons organic coconut oil
  • 2 tablespoons raw honey
  • 2 tablespoons organic tapioca flour (starch) or organic almond flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon organic cinnamon (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon probiotic powder (optional)
  • few drops of extra virgin olive oil (use to thin it and for added Omega 3’s)

Mix all of the ingredients together in a mini blender for the most incredible fudge topping.  If you want it thicker, let it set in the fridge for 30 minutes before serving. It can be used over many of the desserts in this book or it makes a delicious dip for bananas, apples or fresh pineapple.

And btw, don’t forget that if there’s anything left over, your face will be forever grateful if you decide to share.  And if you do, just apply it directly to the skin and allow it to set 10 – 15 minutes.  Use a moist cloth to remove.

Organic Movie Theater Popcorn and Kettle-less Popcorn recipes

Organic Movie Theater Popcorn Recipe & Kettle-less Popcorn Recipe

As we were first starting down the path to more natural and organic eating and living, we were a little worried about how much it would be changing our lives.  So when we figured out that we could pop up healthy popcorn, that tasted better than at the movie theaters, life got a LOT better!I actually had an old air popper from way back when they had been all the rage (before microwave popcorn stole the scene).  I thought it may be a better option, but remember the lifeless, dry popcorn it used to produce.  Prior to that moment, I had committed to replacing all of my butter and margarine with extra virgin olive oil, so I thought it might be a good option to try, after the popcorn was popped.  I liked that idea too, because I knew it would help us maximize the nutrients in the EVOO, if it wasn’t heated.

So I popped up the popcorn and added the EVOO, and then sprinkled on some fresh sea salt.  My first taste was surprisingly wonderful, and then the next, and the next–I was so excited.  When Tiffany and her little guy came over, I hurried and popped some up for them and got the same reaction.  After that and even now, when they come over, her oldest goes right to the popcorn to get things going.  We’ve popped it for all of the believers and non-believers alike and everyone absolutely loves it.

Now go look at that microwave popcorn you’ve gotten used to.  Check out the ingredients and give something else a try, that happens to also be much better for you–and you don’t have to give up a thing.

For another treat, we’ve added a Kettleless Corn recipe that is pretty amazing too!

See for yourself how easy it is to make this popcorn–and get ready for a super yummy treat!
