If you take a second, just look up the ingredients in store bought broth. If it doesn’t make you sick, it probably will when you eat it. I say that kind of joking, but sadly kind of not. I have to admit that I was shocked. Even when we were eating a completely Raw Vegan Diet, we were using pre-made vegetable broth, made by someone who didn’t have our best interest in mind.

If you’re vegan, this post may not be for you, although, it is possible to make some pretty good vegetable broth–maybe we’ll just do that for you, would you like that?…and we also have plenty of other recipes that also contain no sugar, no gluten, no dairy, no soy, and especially no chemicals that you will love as well.

Here’s how easy the broth is to make…
Homemade Broth (from organic chickens of course)
Nutrient rich chicken Stock.
- 1 bones of an organic chicken (gizzards/giblets neck and feet if possible)
- 1 Organic onion (if possible) peeled and quartered
- 3 organic carrots cut into 1” pieces
- 3 Organic Celery sticks cut into 1” pieces
- 3TBS RAW ORGANIC apple cider vinegar (WITH THE MOTHER)
- 1 Basil leaf
- 2 tbsp himalayan sea salt (or more if desired)
- Thyme (dried or live) about 4 sprigs if live or 2tsp if dried
- 2 tsp USDA organic celery salt
- organic peppercorns as desired.
- 3.5 quarts of filtered COLD water (filtered if possible)
Pre-heat oven to 400
Roast chicken bones for 1 hour in oven and gizzards, giblets 30-45 minutes or until crisp.
When done, in a large pot or large crock pot (at least 4 qt) combine all ingredients including bones.
Turn on high till it comes to a rolling boil (30-45 minutes) then turn temperature to low and slow cook minimum of 8 hours. I like to let this simmer for at least 72 hours (3 days) but follow the directions recommended for your stove or crockpot. (Just be smart, we want to keep you around as long as possible! 🙂 The idea is that the longer you let the water ‘Broth’ simmer, the more nutrients seep into your water and the more “rich” your broth will be!
Taste broth and if it needs more flavor add some more vinegar and seasonings. The vinegar is a crucial element to your broth, as it helps pull the nutrients out of the bones! Plus adds a great flavor and is great for you!
