Raw Hot Fudge (without the heat 🙂

Raw Hot Fudge Recipe, without heat and gluten free, sugar free, dairy free, and soy free!

Ready for the most amazing chocolate fudge syrup? Yes, it’s gluten-free, sugar-free, dairy-free, and soy free, and sooooo yummy! It’s our own version that we cooked up, almost by accident and we’ve been celebrating ever since, lol.

You know how things sometimes happen for a reason?  Well, this is one of those “things”…alleluia!  My sister was staying with us on a visit and she started asking what she should use to improve her skin.  That’s like asking a pack of wolves if they’d like to eat you, haha, so of course, I marched her down to my kitchen and started whipping up some nutrients in a dish.  I loaded it with antioxidants and omega 3 fatty acids and moisture.  I slapped it on my face and had her do the same.  But before I knew it, she was licking her bowl clean…. ummm, excuse me?! 🙂

It’s a little hard to take someone seriously with chocolate slopped all over her face, but…as I thought about it, I realized she was onto something, hmm.  I knew it should taste pretty yummy with the ingredients it contained, so I licked my own lips and as far around my lips as my tongue could reach…and yes, you guessed it, before long I had licked my own bowl clean.

Gratitude opens the door

to all of the wisdom,

the power, and the happiness

you were meant to enjoy!

It really tasted great and I could see that it had some real potential.  I thought about how to thicken it and mixed up a few versions before, viola! This recipe came together. And it’s delicious on any of our baked goodies or on good old fashioned cut up apples, bananas, strawberries….ummm get the idea?

AND we’ve got some super exciting news!! If you are re-doing your pantry and needing quality organic ingredients for GREAT PRICES, you’re going to love our latest ORGANIC MARKET that we’ve partnered up with to give you amazing quality for a steal! Better than anywhere else we’ve seen, amazon included, and everything they sell is FRESH!

Raw Hot Fudge Recipe

  • 1/4 cup raw cacao powder
  • 2 Tablespoons organic coconut oil
  • 2 tablespoons raw honey
  • 2 tablespoons organic tapioca flour (starch) or organic almond flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon organic cinnamon (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon probiotic powder (optional)
  • few drops of extra virgin olive oil (use to thin it and for added Omega 3’s)

Mix all of the ingredients together in a mini blender for the most incredible fudge topping.  If you want it thicker, let it set in the fridge for 30 minutes before serving. It can be used over many of the desserts in this book or it makes a delicious dip for bananas, apples or fresh pineapple.

And btw, don’t forget that if there’s anything left over, your face will be forever grateful if you decide to share.  And if you do, just apply it directly to the skin and allow it to set 10 – 15 minutes.  Use a moist cloth to remove.

Another good for you recipe, inside & out!  Raw Hot Fudge, without heat and gluten free, sugar free, dairy free, and soy free!

DIY Spa Facial for Incredible Skin

DIY Spa Facial for Incredible Skin

DIY Spa Facial for Incredible Skin- you can make yourself!

Brrrr, it’s SO cold outside!  It just makes me want get in a nice toasty shower, or just relax in a hot steamy jacuzzi.  Actually, I think I will, hit the tub that is. 🙂

Okay, but I have 2 ulterior motives for this therapeutic bath and spa facial treatment.  One is to deeply moisturize my skin that is parched from the dry cold air, and the other is to add moisture and magnesium to my entire body.  What?  heehee, the way I can do the latter is to add a cupful of epsom salt to my bath water, which, if you look at the ingredients in epsom salt, you may be surprised to find that it IS magnesium.  And to help moisturize my body, I’ll add in a couple of tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil to my bath water. (It will help me absorb that magnesium too, btw!)

If I slather on the following mask a few minutes before getting into the tub, and then lay in that rich moisture therapy bath with the mask on…for about 10-15 minutes…I will de-stress my body, feel warm and pampered, while moisturizing the heck out of everything from my head to my toes.  Pretty dang amazing, right?!

Right now, the only thing that’s keeping me from that nice warm fountain of youth, comfort and joy is the fact that I keep on writing.  So I will spare both of us right now and head off for an evening of pure indulgence.

And when you do the same, we’d love to hear how you loved it! Enjoy this therapeutic bath and spa facial treatment!

Here is your shopping list:

epsom salt

DIY Spa Facial for Incredible Skin

  • Prep Time: 2 minutes
  • Cook time: 10-15 minutes

Ingredients:

1/2 banana
1 Tablespoon nutritious oil – see which will work best for you…  Best Oils to Improve Skin (by Skin Type)
2 teaspoons raw honey
1-2 drops organic, pure essential oil – see our post,  Which Essential Oils are best to Improve the Skin?

Instructions:

Place all ingredients in a mini blender and mix together well.  Slather mixture all over face and neck (avoiding contact with the eyes).  Leave on 10-15 minutes.  If you do this mask while in the bathtub, you could take a wash cloth and squeeze warm water from it, then place over the mask and relax.  The steam will allow more moisture to absorb into the skin.  It won’t dry out the skin because the mask will act as a lubricant and natural moisture barrier.  When ready to remove the mask, gently remove with a damp cloth.  (Be careful not to clog your drain so you don’t get in trouble 🙂

Natural Eczema Cures & Remedies

Natural Eczema Cures & Remedies

Natural Eczema cures & remedies, making the fight a lot easier and winning it!

This is something we get asked about all the time on naturesknockout.com and we have a lot to share.  It’s not really a “recipe” per say, but a lot of tried and true natural eczema cures and remedies and what we believe to be cures as well (based on our own experience and feedback from all of you) So anyway, here we go…

USE WATER SPARINGLY, IF AT ALL

Water is one of the worst irritants and literally fuels the eczema, so you’ll want to protect the skin from it as much as possible.  We tend to over clean and eczema is one of the bodies ways of telling us that the immune system is not very happy.  There’s so much more to say, but basically our skin is covered with a natural protective oily coating.  It’s important to keep that intact and using water can actually strip that away.  So the better option is to use an emollient (like coconut oil or extra virgin olive oil) to clean because it actually lifts the impurities off of the surface.

When you need to shower or immerse yourself in water, you can apply coconut oil or extra virgin olive oil to the skin prior to exposure, then wash with a gentle, safe soap, and follow up with a little oil after towel drying the skin.

CLEANSE GENTLY

With your son’s eczema, it’s important to avoid all products containing sodium laureth or sodium lauryl sulphate (for more info on those, head to our I-Spy.) It’s best to make sure he only uses natural or organic soaps, shampoos, laundry detergents…but even if an item says it’s natural, check the ingredients to make sure it’s completely non-chemical.  This might sound odd, but oil based cleansers will lift impurities, without drying the surface. So we feel that unfefined, pure organic cold pressed coconut oil is the best cleanser you could use. Use it alone and without water while skin is irritated.

SEA SALT

If the eczema has a thick and rough texture and no lesions, freshly ground sea salt can be added to the coconut oil to scrub the area (not close to the eyes though)…often eczema will respond well to that as it usually carries bacteria that the salt fights.  Remove it with a damp cloth and reapply the coconut oil to relubricate. Please be sure skin is not broken or the salt could really hurt.

Another thing to consider is that if the acid mantle has been stripped, it can cause eczema breakouts. One way to restore the acid mantle is by applying a tiny amount of apple cider vinegar to the affected area.

LUBRICATE

The skin needs lubrication, not hydration.  So that means, using healthy oils is good, using water or products with water is not so good (boo)  The number one best treatment we’ve found is Emu Oil It works great and soothes burning skin immediately. We believe this should be a staple in ever medicine cabinet of a person with skin problems.

NO MORE LOTION

Yes, that includes lotions.  Bummer on that–at least, until the skin is healthier.  But most lotions tend to aggravate eczema because of the high water content in them.  And unfortunately, that even includes many of the safe and natural ones.  Heavy lubricating creams and oils are the best for protecting and nourishing the skin to get it back to a more healthy state.  Again, we say, the skin should be treated with Pure Emu Oil for quick relief and lasting results.

FRAGRANCE

One more thing–get away from fragrance and any product that contains it.  Even if it says “natural fragrance or fragrance blends” the skin can’t be fooled. :-/

LOCK IN PROTECTION

Oops, I just thought of another, so one last thing :)..  covering the skin after lubricating it will help tremendously.  If it’s on the hands, apply a lubricant, put cotton gloves on, and keep them on for a few hours or overnight.  The skin will usually respond well.

MAKE SURE TO BE INFORMED

And I don’t want to get off on a negative note, but when it comes to steroid creams, use them sparingly if you have to, but be sure to read all of the side effects thoroughly, because they are real.

FOODS

Some foods may cause a reaction in people who are eczema prone…some to watch for are red meats, sea food, eggs, dairy, GMO grains, breads with yeast, additives, preservatives, blueberries, tomatos, lemons, and lime.  Psssst, I’ll share a secret–I have eczema too.  I guess it’s not really a secret because I blab it all the time.  Sorry, off task—anyway, I can have those items when my skin is doing well, but when it’s broken out, I try to avoid them until I can get it under control.

Something to add to the diet is more probiotics or acidophilus, more dark leafy greens

Please comment below, we LOVE to hear your thoughts, abut this or anything else that crosses your mind–we’re ready!

Take care of yourselves, YOU are so worth it!

Best Natural DIY Deodorant Recipe

Best Natural DIY Deodorant Recipe

We’ve tried so many natural deodorants and found one or two along the way that worked fine, nothing spectacular.  Then we started hitting the kitchen cabinets and put together this recipe that literally takes less than 5 minutes to gather together and make and we really love it.Best Natural DIY Deodorant Recipe

The recipe is super fast and easy and it works better than most of the natural deodorants we’ve tried!

NOTE: You will sweat, but that’s great because it means the body is eliminating toxins.  So don’t fight it, just know that you can have good protection and keep from stinking.  This is the Best Natural DIY Deodorant Recipe we’ve ever used,  it works super well and lasts all day.

One last thing, we are strong believers that believe that because essential oils are powerful and concentrated oils that are extracted from plants, that it’s essential that those plants must be 100% Organic. These ones below are the only ones we’ve found that we feel good about recommending at this time:

Organic Essential Oils

CITRUS REFRESHER DEODORANT RECIPE

NOTE: We only recommend certified organic essential oils as they are highly therapeutic and concentrated. If they don’t say “certified organic” they are likely loaded with pesicides & herbicides. We added links above and below to mountain rose where we trust their quality.

Also, we also found another ORGANIC MARKET with great prices that we love what they are doing and have set up as affiliates with them. They also carry many of the ingredients we like to use as well.

  • 1/4 cup coconut oil
  • 1/4 cup baking soda (if you have allergies to this, you can replace it with more tapioca flour)
  • 1/4 cup tapioca flour
  • 12 drops of orange certified organic essential oil
  • 6 drops of lemon certified organic essential oil
  • 6 drops of lime certified organic essential oil

Mix all ingredients together in a deep dish. Smash and grind into a toothpaste type consistency. Store in an 8 oz glass jar with a lid.

Our favorite essential oils to use are wintergreen, peppermint, and tea tree oil, but they are hot oils and for sweaters, we would caution that they might not be such a big hit.  For us, they work great, but that’s something to consider.  If you tend to be a sweater, another combination we love is citrus oils, like orange, lemon, grapefruit and lime.

Being

healthy

isn’t a

goal.

It’s a

lifestyle!

Also, a little note on the sea salt we listed below as optional.  For more sensitive skin, it may be a little irritating, so we’d recommend eliminating it on a daily basis.  If you aren’t so sensitive, it’s great to add for additional exfoliation, which is a great way to eliminate bacteria buildup and odor.

That’s really all there is to this–it’s truly the best natural DIY Deodorant Recipe you’ll find!

And, speaking of Beauty, here are links to our “Beauty Foods” Cookbooks so you can eat wonderful food that helps create beautiful skin at the same time…
