We think we’ve stumbled upon the Best Bean Burgers ever. Seriously. Yes, they are 100% vegan, no gluten, dairy, or soy.  Even the animal loving scoffers in our lives that have tasted these, were deliciously speechless (delicious because they were speechless, and delicious in how they were blown away, lol 🙂

We’ve been working up a great bean burger recipe and thought we were getting there. But the other day, I just went a little more crazy with the spices and came up with this recipe, which I really think is amazing! And I love eating it, getting the “greasy food “fix” while feeling better with every bite. No heavy bloating, or blah feeling afterward at all!

So like usual, we posted a photo of these “Best Bean Burgers” on our instagram, fb, and twitter..and the requests came flooding in. As always, we’re happy to share!

Have you ever just eaten a meat patty??  It’s actually pretty bland by itself. I think that’s why the buns and all of the condiments come into play. But these have a perfect blend of spices that stand on their own. But to make it really feel like a burger replacement, we’ve added all of the condiments, minus the bun. You could add a GF bun, but we’ve found that a lettuce wrap alternative is seriously the perfect compliment to these delicious burgers (and you won’t feel like you’re missing out on a single thing!

RECIPE

  • Prep Time: 10 minutes
  • Cook time: 5 minutes
  • Yield: 4-6

INGREDIENTS

2 cups black beans – pre-cooked and drained
1 cup brown rice or quinoa – pre-cooked
1 small red onion
4 cloves garlic – minced
1 hormone free egg
1/2 tablespoon peppercorns – freshly ground
1 tablespoon herb mixture
1 teaspoon chipotle powder
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
3/4 cup GF oats – uncooked
sea salt to taste

INSTRUCTIONS

Drop all ingredients into a food processor and mix well.  Fry on the stove in avocado oil on medium heat. It should take about 5 minutes per side.

If you want to make these to BBQ on the grill, just make the patties in advance and freeze them, then place the frozen burgers on the grill and enjoy!

    Sounds yummy… Except there is an egg in the recipe so it isn’t Vegan.. Know of a good substitute? 🙁

      Some vegans eat eggs and it works well to help stick the ingredients together. You could use a flax egg (1 tbs flaxseed + 2 tablespoons water) and soak for 10 minutes. It will make a gel which will help, but won’t work as well as an egg in sticking the ingredients together. Let us know if you try it, we’d love to hear!!! xo
